Text Complexity

During the Summer Institute at the administrators strand, Michael Westover presented the importance of using text complexity to improve students reading skills. Research has shown that 80% of adult reading material is informational texts. Being able to read and interpret these texts are crucial to success as a parent, student, and worker. This research informed the development of the Common Core State Standards and the 2014 GED® test.  This information is presented in order for adult educators to improve their practice and support student success on the GED® test, in college and training, and in the workforce.
